My current WOW app for 2005
I'm cheating a little, as last years WOW app is also related to a product called Keyhole (purchased by Google). The same product was announced today to help power Google Maps my new WOW app for 2005. The thing that really does it for me is the Ajax or DTML or Request. (What is it again?) - The part that allows the web application to keep talking back to the server without a page refresh. Now keep in mind that Google Maps was very cool yesterday, the part that really knocks my socks off is where the Keyhole product comes in. Keyhole is what Paul Thurrott summed up best as "Think magic carpet!". The application allows you to seamlessly fly through satellite images of the globe (primarily the US) in a really neat way. What Google Maps does is put those same satellite maps on top of the relatively empty Google Maps - maps. Enough said go check out 1 Redmond Way, Washington.
Update 6/4: Its XMLHttpRequest - I really should have looked that up.
